Cultivating Columbus
Friday, July 12 | 10:30AM - 6:00PM​

Join us for a for a jam-packed tour of this trendy hort city then stay for the green industry megashow --  Cultivate, July 13-16. Regional meeting highlights include a highly regarded urban flower farm, a new nature-nurturing children’s garden, the flagship of a highly curated houseplant store chain, university trial gardens and arboretum, and the premier English estate garden of a city beautification advocate.

Friday, July 12

10:30 - 11:15AM

Sunny Meadows Flower Farm: Steve and Gretel Adams, pioneers of the slow flower movement, will provide a tour of their greenhouses and production facilities and discuss their off-site field operations. They’ll highlight trends in the cut flower business and share their favorite cut flower varieties.

11:30AM - 12:00PM

Private Garden Tour: Tour of Cherie Lucks’ English garden in Bexley; Cherie has played an instrumental role in several horticulture programs throughout central Ohio including AmeriFlora, Franklin Park Conservatory, Bexley in Bloom, the Ohio Legacy Garden and Chadwick Arboretum.

12:15 - 1:00PM

Franklin Park Conservatory: Box lunch at new Education Pavillion beside Children’s Garden. GardenComm business meeting and 5- to 7- minute presentations by a local author and community gardening champion.

1:00 - 1:45PM

Tour of the Children’s Garden, a newly opened 2-acre garden featuring interactive experiences that celebrate the Ohio landscape.

2:00 - 2:30PM

Stump: Visit this highly curated houseplant store founded by Emily and Brian Kellett who now run four other stores in Columbus, Cleveland and Philadelphia. 

3:00 - 4:30PM

OSU Trial Gardens and Chadwick Arboretum: Tour the trial gardens with Cultivar Trials Manager William Barnhill and explore Chadwick Arboretum, its learning gardens (including the Steven M. Still Perennial Garden designed by Adrian Bloom), horticulture therapy garden and Howlett Hall’s green roof (expert Megan Meier on hand to answer questions). 

5:15 - 6:00PM

Groovy Plants Ranch: Appetizer reception inside the renovated schoolhouse, shopping and meet-and-greet with owners Liz and Jared Hughes. New plant spotlight by Jared who breeds succulents and begonias, including the new Canary Wings for Ball Ingenuity.


Dinner on your own. A list of dinner options will be provided for the Powell/Polaris Mall area near Groovy Plants Ranch.


Cancelation Policy
Cancelation requests received in writing by Friday, June 28 will be subject to a 25% cancelation fee, which will be deducted from the refund. No refunds will be made after Friday, June 28. Substitutions will be permitted with no penalties.
